SOME BY MI Retinol Intense Sheetmask 22g

The SOME BY MI Retinol Intense Sheetmask is a single-use retinoid sheet mask for adults who want smoother-looking, firmer-feeling skin. SOME BY MI says it combines retinol, retinal and the plant-derived bakuchiol, and recommends it for mature skin.

How it works

Retinol and retinal are vitamin A derivatives that, with regular use, help skin look smoother and fine lines look softer. Bakuchiol is a plant ingredient often used alongside retinoids. SOME BY MI says the mask uses an elastic liposome system to carry these ingredients into the upper layers of the skin. The essence also contains niacinamide, several forms of hyaluronic acid, ceramide NP, centella asiatica and a peptide (palmitoyl tripeptide-1) to keep skin hydrated during and after use.

Who it suits

Skin with fine lines, dryness or a tired-looking texture, including people trying a retinoid in a mask format before moving to a leave-on serum or cream.

What it will not do

One mask will not remove wrinkles; any change in the look of the skin builds up with regular, patient use. It does not replace a daily moisturiser or sunscreen and is not a medical treatment.

Good to know

Use it in the evening and start with once a week, increasing only if your skin is comfortable. Wear SPF the next morning, as retinoids can make skin more sensitive to the sun. Avoid using it on the same night as strong acids or another retinoid, and do a patch test first. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before using retinoids. The essence contains fragrance.

1. In the evening, cleanse and apply toner.
2. Unfold the mask and place it on the face, lining up the openings with the eyes, nose and mouth.
3. Leave on for 15-20 minutes.
4. Remove the mask and pat the remaining essence into the skin; spread any leftover essence on the neck. Do not rinse.
5. Finish with moisturiser, and use sunscreen the next morning.
Start with once a week.
