KERASTASE Blond Absolu Bain Ultra-Violet Purple Shampoo 250ml

Kérastase Blond Absolu Bain Ultra-Violet is a purple shampoo for blonde, bleached, highlighted and grey hair that has turned yellow or brassy. Violet sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, so the pigment cancels yellow tones. It does not lighten hair, and it will not correct orange. Kérastase also includes hyaluronic acid (listed as sodium hyaluronate) for hydration.

How it works

The shampoo cleanses and leaves a thin veil of violet dye (Acid Violet 43) on the hair. Because it is a dye, the effect builds with leave-on time. Kérastase's instructions are to leave it on for at least 2 minutes, or longer for a stronger result. On very light, porous or white hair, start with the shorter time: a long leave-on can leave a faint lilac cast.

Who it suits

• Blonde, bleached, highlighted or balayage hair that has warmed up to yellow
• Grey or white hair that yellows (Kérastase lists grey hair among its uses)
• Anyone keeping a cool blonde between salon visits

What it will not do

• It will not fix orange. Orange hair needs a blue-based toner, which is a salon job.
• It will not repair damage. For dry, bleach-damaged lengths, use the Masque Cicaextreme.

Good to know

Because it deposits colour, most people use it on some washes rather than every wash, alternating with a hydrating shampoo. It contains sodium laureth sulfate and fragrance, including citrus oil, limonene and linalool, so skip it if you are sensitive to fragrance. Rinse thoroughly and wash your hands after use, as the dye can temporarily stain.

Step 1 - Apply to wet hair. Leave on at least 2 minutes, or longer depending on desired degree of neutralisation.

Step 2 - Rinse thoroughly.

In case of direct contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Avoid eye contact. Adult use only.
